Meow Militia

Overview

The goal of this project was to design and develop a unique, playable game using a Game Boy Advance simulator. Inspired by one of my childhood favorites, Bloons Tower Defense, I created a cat-themed tower-defense game where players strategically place weapons to stop waves of enemies along a set path. While playability was the primary focus, I also emphasized storytelling through the game’s graphics and animations to reflect my personality and creativity.

Approach

I began by designing core gameplay mechanics typical of tower-defense games. To personalize the experience, I chose a whimsical theme centered on cats defending against mice, which allowed for playful character animation and charming visual storytelling.

Using pixel art techniques compatible with the Game Boy Advance simulator, I created animated sprites for the cat defenders and invading mice, adding personality and humor to the gameplay. Throughout development, I balanced functional design with artistic expression to ensure the game was not only engaging and playable but also visually appealing and narrative-driven.
